The Precious

I built this in January:

What we are looking at is a quad core QX6700 that I overclocked to 3.46 MHz. The liquid cooling system is a Coolermaster Mini R80, and I've never seen core temperature exceed 60 degrees. The power supply is a Tagan TG1100 working at 1100 watts to supply what will eventually be three graphics processors. At the moment, the solitary eVGA 8800GTX is quite sufficient. The main board is a 680i ASUS P5N32-E SLI, and I have two gigabytes of Corsair Dominator 8500C5D running at 1066 MHz. Hidden are two Raptor Xes running in RAID-0. I am (mostly) stable in Vista Ultimate 32-bit, but waiting on some new nVidia drivers for the 8800GTX.

Just landed on your blog while I was surfing and upon reading this post, let me say my hat's off to you. If you're running (mostly) stable in Vista Ultimate with this machine, you're truly a hero in my eyes!;)

"(Mostly)" stable, indeed.

I am a victim of "nvlddmkm stopped responding and recovered". It seems to be a widespread problem of anyone running a bleeding edge nvidia system (chipset or gpu) on Vista. For the time being, I need to run my RAM at 800 & take off SLI for stability, but I think we can expect a fix soon...

Vendors and developers are catching up more and more everyday. I heard at work on Thursday that there was a new driver available for the 8800GTX. Check out radarsync.com.
How are your Raptor's working for you with Vista? We don't even support Raid!;)
