The Last BBQ

This past weekend we had our last Hinesville BBQ with our friends here who are also getting out of the army. We had a great time and I am excited that this will be my last weekend in this town. Daniel will be finished with this place at the end of the month!

What CAN you eat?

Well, this weekend Daniel and I are about 5 hours away from each other. I have not only a paper due on Tuesday but I also have to write comments (grades + comments) and do reading for Tuesday's class. I was too stressed about all the work to attempt to make the drive and poor Daniel had a horrible drive down last weekend so he stayed put too. Since spring break starts next weekend we'll get to spend a good 10 days together in lovely hinesville!

On top of everything else that I have to do, I have been trying to take care of myself and figure out what is wrong with me - I've had major digestive problems since maybe October of last year and my regular doctor just kept sending me to have expensive tests done and never figured out what was really wrong. All the tests were coming back negative and in the mean time I continued to feel like crap. So I got fed up and decided to go see a holistic doctor (highly recommended by a friend). Before I went in to see him I had to have a sample sent in to a lab - I spare you the details- believe me, you DO NOT want to know. Anyway, I finally had my appointment last Thursday. It turns out that I have an excess of a particular bacteria in my intestines. This along with stress has been making me feel sick and have digestive problems. So, the plan is to starve the bacteria (along with almost starving me) back to a normal level and I have some supplements to take to help with stress.

What does this mean? Well, I'm on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet now. I have to stay on this for about 3 months and then after that I can have some starches/sugars now and then, but not in excess. Basically I cannot eat sugar, starches, grains or dairy products. For a more extensive list of what's ok and what's not, go

I had written a lot more, but I lost it. It's now late and I have to get back to working on my numerous homework assignments! boooo!

Just Quoting...

From here:

"Raising questions about Bush's vow to keep troops in Iraq as long as they are needed, a Le Moyne College/Zogby poll showed 72 percent of U.S troops serving there think the United States should exit within the next year. Nearly one in four said the troops should leave immediately.

A strategy often used by the Bush administration against opponents of the war in Iraq has been to accuse them of being unfair to troops who want to stay until they get the job done."
