Guinness

I want to have Guinness on-tap at home. It looks like I need to invest around $300 in hosiery and nitrogen and other miscellaneousery. That on top of at least $400 for a good "kegerator". Price is not an object, but reliability and ease-of-installation is paramount. I'm just dangling this out there in case someone has any expertise in at-home Guinness dispensing.

Glad you made it back in one piece, at least physically anyway. Just a little friendly advice from a Desert Storm veteran and a former Navy Hospital Corpsman (in the Fleet Marine Force). Don't think just because you weren't physically wounded in battle that you're ok. The things you saw and did in the sandbox may affect you mentally and emotionally for years to come. Don't be afraid to seek professional help if you're dealing with post-traumatic stress.

As far as the Guinness on tap is concerned, I would recommend learning how to brew your own beer. I've been doing it since I got out of the navy, and I've never regretted it.

Daniel,

Get the dimensions to a keg. Then see if you can find a mini-frig that it would fit in. You might have to remove some of the innards to make the keg fit. You’re going to have to put holes in the frig to run tubing. You’ll want to seal the holes around the outside of the tubing with a caulking compound. So you might be able to find a mini-frig for under a $100, and then all you’d need is the CO2 kit. That might save you a few hundred bucks.

See you at the wedding!
